During an emergency each second is vital. Are stairs part of your emergency escape plan? If so, those who find negotiating them difficult, may require an evacuation chair.
Our evacuation chair training course overlaps elements of manual handling and fire safety points. *The venue must have a suitable evacuation chair available for use during the practical element.
To tailor this course to your individual needs, the course has a strong practical element. Candidates will be shown how to set up the chair, and secure it safely. Candidates will then be be instructed on how to manoeuvre it on the flat. Prior to taking turns moving each other downstairs in the chair. Film footage of techniques and discussions of case studies will also be utilised.

Digital certificate of attendance from the instructor valid for 3 years.
Ideal for anyone who may need to place someone on an evacuation chair during an emergency. This is not limited to, but may include healthcare settings, buildings over 3 floors, colleges, leisure centres or council run settings.
No previous knowledge required although the venue will need to have their own evacuation chair. Staff attending will need to wear flat footwear and be physically able to walk up and down stairs unaided.
