According to the charity Mind, 1:4 of us will experience mental health issues at some point in our lifetime. Many of them will feel a stigma is attached and put a "brave face" on it until they reach crisis point. Mental Health awareness training is about opening a conversation with those who may need help. Additionally, it is about signposting them to support services and breaking the stigma.
Mental health First Aid England report 78% of students report mental health concerns. Whilst the HSE report 44% of days off were attributed to stress, anxiety and depression. Many of those affected cite poor managerial support, as a high contributing factor.
Mental Health Awareness training is important, to reduce potential absence, to encourage higher engagement from staff. Appropriate training allows managers to take earlier intervention.
Mental Health is an emotional subject and as a result some may find the subject matter upsetting. The instructor will be able to signpost you to support should you require it.
