Diabetes awareness is important, as its believed 26% of residential and nursing home residents may have the condition. Many people may well be showing the signs and symptoms of the condition without having a formal diagnosis.
Diabetes can occur in anyone, and can develop anytime during your life. Knowing the signs and symptoms means you can help individuals manage their condition.
It is true that some age ranges, and some client groups do put them at an increased risk of diabetes, however it is a serious lifelong condition. If left untreated hyperglycaemia (high blood glucose levels) can cause serious complications. Whilst hypoglycaemia (low glucose levels) can be fatal.
The diabetes awareness course will explore common symptoms of diabetes, along with methods of diagnosis. Furthermore, the course explores both possible treatments but also potential complications.
