Mental Capacity and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards

The Mental Capacity Act provides a framework for the purpose of protecting vulnerable adults. Notably those in nursing, residential as well as care homes. The act will asses the persons ability to consent and make informed decisions.

The deprivation of liberty safeguards (DOLS) are part of the mental capacity act. These additionally relate to those who lack the capacity to consent. The safeguards are there, so that any restrictions or restraints used are in the patients best interests.

This course is an essential training programme for anyone working in the care, support or treatment of adults.
